BoXiKoN is one of those games that can be classified as highly addictive and is based on a very simple concept: simple rules= more fun. There is no secret that some of the most successful games in history were simple games like Tetris, Pong or Bejeweled.
BoXiKoN is following the same amazing concept and it promises hours and hours of entertainment. Personally, I felt in love with this game from second one. The first thing that strikes when you launch BoXiKoN for the first time is its similitude's with the more popular puzzle game Tetris.
If the basic concept is somehow similar (create a full line, column and, in BoXiKoN case a block of 4x4, 5x5 or 6x6 blocks with the same color, to receive points and to eliminate those particular blocks from the playing field), BoXiKoN comes with its own design, different rules and a completely playing style.
First of all, BoXiKoN contains a playing table disposed in a 2D space (pieces are not falling from above as in Tetris case; user is placing these pieces on the table). During game play, the user can choose from 5 different pieces (also different colors) and he can pick one at a time and place it on the board. Pressing right mouse button (or using mouse wheel) the user can spin clockwise each piece.
The purpose is to create a complete line or column to obtain points and remove those particular blocks from the table (the user receives 2 points for each destroyed block). A more advanced way to gain points is creating a color box bonus. This happens when you make a block of 4x4, 5x5 or 6x6 blocks of the same color.
BoXiKoN comes with several different playing modes: New easy game (recommended for beginners), New medium game, New advanced game (for professionals) and New relaxing game (no time pressure). Top scores are saved and can be shared via internet or area local network.
