There are so many image viewers available nowadays that it is almost impossible to test them all and decide which the best image viewer is. However, a good image viewer must have several major features: it must be easy to install and use, it should be a low resources consumer, it should support all image extensions (or as many as possible) and it should be completely free (again, if possible but personally I would be willing to pay for an exceptional image viewer).
In this review we are going to talk about kuView, a new and promising image viewer. First of all, kuView incorporates all major features from above. kuView doesn’t require installation (simply run its executable file), its well designed interface makes it easy to use and intuitive, it won't consume your system resources (kuView needs less than 1% of your resources to run), it supports a huge variety of image extensions and it was released under a GPL license (it is free to use).
From interface point of view, kuView is one of the most intuitive and well designed image viewers I have ever seen (it can successfully compete against the more popular IrfanView). All major features and tools are directly accessible from the main screen. You won't be forced to browser endless menus just to find a simple tool (cut, copy, paste, undo, next, previous, etc). Everything is there, one click away.
Browsing through files is made using a simple browsing system, similar with Windows Explorer. This system is completely integrated into kuView. This allows you to view a certain image and, in the same time, browse your computer and search for additional pictures to import.
kuView is a features rich application. It is impossible to cover all these features during one single review so I will point out only some of the most important ones:
- kuView is a portable application (no installation is required)
- Use Free Image library inside for better scaling
- Browse directories and files by tree
- Several files management tools: cut, copy, paste, move, delete, rename, etc
- Save and Save As supported picture format
- Full screen mode
- Slide show
- Single file printing with preview, scaling, and alignment
- Command line interface
- It supports various image extensions: BMP / PNG / JPG / TIF / GIF / PNM / PCX / ICO / CUR / ANI / XPM / RAW
- Multilanguage support
- Cross platform support: Windows (all versions) and Linux
- kuView is free to use
Why is kuView famous?
kuView is famous because it is a powerful an useful image viewer which provides useful features including Unicode, EXIF, scaling filter, shell integration, and archive browsing.
