FamousWhy Editor:
Osmos is a highly awarded skill and action game. However, when is about testing, I'm not that interested in rewards but in what that application or game can offer to a common user. I gave Osmos a try ignoring all its positive reviews and received awards.
I'm sure that many people are going to compare Osmos with the more popular FlOw. It is true that the basic concept is identical but Osmos is, without any doubt, better.
First of all, the atmosphere in Osmos is great. I can't say that about many games nowadays. A game should be relaxing, entertainment and addictive. Osmos is all these and even more. The graphic engine is really good and the ambient sound is simply amazing.
Let's talk a bit about gameplay and user experience. The player controls a small life form (one single cell). You need to grow and evolve and in order to do that you need to "assimilate" other life forms. However, just like in nature, there are several rules. You can't "eat" a life form that is bigger and stronger than you are.
On each level, you need to focus on smaller organisms and constantly evolve to a more powerful, bigger and meaner organism.
As you grow, your life form will evolve and you get receive various "upgrades" and bonuses like burst speed or defensive weapons.
Because levels are randomly generated, Osmos provides and endless gaming experience. The "world" is different every time you play.
Some of the most important features available in Osmos are:
- Multiple level types
- Achievements system
- 47 levels and some bonus levels as well
- Amazing ambient sound
- Levels are randomly generated
- Multiplatform support: Windows, Linux and Mac
- Affordable price
Why is Osmos famous?
Osmos is famous because it is an interesting, entertaining, relaxing and well designed skill-action game.
