Psiphon is a web proxy that was designed to help all the Internet users to securely bypass the content filtering systems that are used to censor the Internet by different governments like: China, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Pakistan and others.
Psiphon consists of two separate open source software projects:
• 2.0 – A managed proxy cloud implementation
• 1.X – the original home based server software that was released by Citizen Lab
This application was made in 2006 and in 2008 the source code was released under the GNU General Public License.
Psiphon can be used to browse many sites, but it also has some limitations: The users are unable to browse websites that are using a https connections. Though, not a security threat, this thing considerable reduces the ability of users to access some sites via Psiphon.
This program works by allowing access to specific Internet sites via "right2know" nodes which are linked to some specific content. The Psiphon GUI is available in the following languages: Arabic, French, Spanish, Turkmen, Russian, Chinese, English, Farsi, Vietnamese, Burmese and Uzbek.
Psiphon traffic is encrypted to avoid blocking and this obfuscates the real address of the content that you are trying to access. This program was not designed and it doesn't want to be used as anonymity software and it does not provide protection from traffic analysis.
You can use this program on every computer you want, because it does not have any restrictions.
