Just like its name clearly suggests, Psycho Toolkit is a complete package of plug-ins, aimed for sound design and editing rather than mainstream audio production.
Psycho Toolkit contains no less than 7 different tools, each with various features and options: Barnum Preamp, Excitable Boy, Flip Speed, Metal Demon, Sick Puppy, Thrash Triode and Water Glass.
In order to understand the Psycho Toolkit utility, we need to analyze each plug-in individually.
1. Barnum Preamp- a powerful and useful OTT warmth-adding analog tool. Barnum Preamp contains features like Bass (starting with -20 db and ending with a value of 20 db), Mids (Center frequency, Width, Drive and Gain) and Treble (with a value between -20 db and 20 db).
2. Excitable Boy- a comprehensive aural enhancer/ exciter with some extra features like: Bass Cutoff, Bass Drive, Bass Mix, Treble Cutoff, Treble Drive, Treble Mix, Mode (Clip or Squiggle) and Gain value between -20 db and 20 db.
3. Flip Speed- an interesting rectification-based and playback speed octave generator. Flip Speed incorporates features like: Octave (Up and Down options), Pre Filter (starting with a value of 50 Hz and ending with a value of 12.000 Hz), Blend, Distortion (between 1 and 10) and Post Filter.
4. Metal Demon- death metal vocal effect. Metal Demon comes with features like: Balls (Natural to Intimidating), Throat (Clear to Ragged) and Muffling (Gritty to Foggy).
5. Sick Puppy- seriously twisted wave-peak analysis distortion generator. Sick Puppy contains the following features: 4 different distortion modes (A, B, C and D), Pre Filter, Drive and Post Filter
6. Trash Triode - vacuum tube and cheap amp construction kit. This is one of the most complex plug-ins and it incorporates features like: Pre EQ (Treble, Mid frequency, Mids and Bass), Defects (Noise, Hum, Rail Dec Time and Rail Decay), Distortion (Pre Slew Lim, Clipping Drive, Post Slew Lim and Gain Adjust), Cabinet (Cabinet Size, Reso Frequency, Reso Amount and Buzz) and Post EQ (Treble, Mid frequency, Mids and Bass)
7. Water Glass - noise reduction and texture generation
