FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Aaron Daniels: I plan to start creating more software or tools for people to use that may become of use to them. Noraa Chat has been quite popular and that gives me the will to create new things.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for Noraa Chat? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Aaron Daniels: I started coding Noraa Chat about 9 months ago and since then I've always tried to enhance it although there was a bit of a gap (about 2 months) in which I gave up on the project and now I'm glad I had another go at it.
I think what inspired me the most was that I wasn't just making it for my own personal use but for others to use also. That sense of people interacting with something I had created made me feel like I wanted to put it out there for everyone to have.
I do plan to develop new software and some of these probably simple tools but I think throughout that time I will still be focused mostly on keeping the current ones up to date.
FW Editor: Noraa Chat has quite a simple interface. Are you planning to change that in the future?
Aaron Daniels: I always find changing something from simple to more advanced is a hard question to answer because some people say that the simpler the better but then some people say that the more advanced it is the more you get to do. The trick is to make sure you don't give a too complex layout so that when a new user opens up the program they don't think "Woah! What's all this do?" so I tend to think that if its simple, usability increases, but then that's just my opinion...maybe one day I'll change my mind.
FW Editor: How many users can connect to Noraa Chat in the same time?
Aaron Daniels: Unfortunately the way I started to code Noraa Chat meant that only 2 people could connect and chat in one conversation which meant that if I wanted to change this I would have to re-code the whole thing...and with lines and lines of complicated code which is probably hard to replicate completely in a new project I think that would be a pretty big task. Maybe I'll release a very simple Noraa Multi Chat one day? Who knows...
FW Editor: At this point, Noraa Chat is limited to a Local Area Network only. Do you plan to release a similar software without this limitation? (a product that can be used as an online chat program).
Aaron Daniels: At this moment in time I don't plan to, but again it is probably something I would love to do in the future, especially seeming as though LAN chat is less used than online chat.
FW Editor: What are the advantages of using Noraa Chat over any other similar product?
Aaron Daniels: I would say the advantages of Noraa Chat are its ease of use and simplicity, the ability to limit what the other user can do if you are the host, the use of colour schemes and plugins that allow you to change the look and feel of the program and also probably the help files because not many of the similar programs come with help files because they seem to think everyone should understand what to do, although that is not always the case.
FW Editor: Besides Noraa Chat, is there any application that had a positive impact over you? Why?
Aaron Daniels: In fact there was a program that had a positive impact on me and it was whilst I was at college creating a mortgage calculator and whilst doing so I learnt that the capabilities of creating something are vast and that you could probably create anything you wanted with code. This inspired me because creating anything you want seems like an ideal thing to do.
FW Editor: What is your favorite feature from Noraa Chat and why?
Aaron Daniels: My favourite feature in Noraa Chat is the Colour Scheme Plugin.
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about this feature? Why it is so important? Is Noraa Chat the same without it?
Aaron Daniels: The colour scheme plugin allows you to change the colours of each of the individual items within the program. I liked the idea of this and the idea came to me when someone sent me some feedback stating that they thought the default colour schemes were too dark so I thought it was important to do something about this if some users had problems with it. Noraa Chat doesn't necessarily need this so it probably doesn't need it, but it allows the user to change the program to suit their own personal choice.
FW Editor: Do you have any message for Noraa Chat users?
Aaron Daniels: I certainly do; Thank you very much for downloading and using Noraa Chat, even if you've only used it once and then sent some feedback and never touched the program again. When I receive feedback I read each and every one and see if I can do anything to change any problems or ideas that are sent to me. Thank you so much!! :D
