An interview with Asturix Dev Team

FW Editor: Can you tell us a few things about the Asturix concept?
Asturix Dev Team: Asturix is open for anyone. Anyone can apport ideas for the future releases and propose changes. Asturix is innovative too, as we think software is better if fresh :)

FW Editor: It is hard to develop and improve an operating system without support from a large software company? How did you manage to complete Asturix?
Asturix Dev Team: Is is very difficult to develop Asturix because in the Asturix Dev Team we are only 18 persons, of which only two of us are programmers. Asturix is the result of hours and hours of hard development of volunteers.

FW Editor: Asturix was released with 3 different editions: Desktop, Business and Lite. Which are the main differences between these versions?
Asturix Dev Team: Actually there are only two versions: the standard version, with two subversions (i686 and x86_64) and the Lite version. Lite version is adapted to netbooks, low powered machines and some tablets. The standard version is heavier and prepared for the normal, medium powered machines.

FW Editor: Do you have any plans to release a licensed Asturix version in the future?
Asturix Dev Team: No. Asturix is libre software and completely free, and will continue thus.

FW Editor: Asturix incorporates multiple tools and applications, starting with simple text editors and ending with some powerful image editors. Why these particular choices?
Asturix Dev Team: Asturix is a general purpose operating system, so we need adapt it to the masses. Asturix comes with a lot of powerful applications, to give the user a comfortable user experience.

FW Editor: What can you tell us about Asturix security? It is safe to use Asturix without a powerful firewall or antivirus program?
Asturix Dev Team: Asturix is based on Linux, so there aren't malware for Asturix. This isn't Windows :)

FW Editor: Which are the system requirements for using Asturix?
Asturix Dev Team: For the Lite version: 2GB of HDD and 64MB of RAM For the standard version: 4GB of HDD and 256MB of RAM
