FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Colin Greenwood: I would like to continue to develop ideas into software products.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for Scheduler FE? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Colin Greenwood: About two years ago I was reading about Oracle's Scheduler as part of the OCP DBA exam and picturing in my mind how the components fit together. It was then that I thought that why not transform this picture into reality. I am intending to extend Scheduler FE but I would also like to develop new software.
FW Editor: Scheduler FE is a great tool for Oracle Scheduler. What is the secret?
Colin Greenwood: I believe that when I set out I had a definite picture in my mind and though this picture has changed as Scheduler FE has developed its fundamentals have remained constant.
FW Editor: What are your plans for Scheduler FE? Are you going to improve it in the future? What shall we expect from the next Scheduler FE version?
Colin Greenwood: I am looking at the swingx library, specifically the date class that displays the day/month/year in a calendar format with regard to utilising it when entering dates.
FW Editor: Why would you recommend Scheduler FE?
Colin Greenwood: It gives the Scheduling Manager an overview of the objects created. It also allows the Scheduling Manager to allocate specific functions to users such as running specific Jobs.
FW Editor: Besides Scheduler FE, is there any other similar software that had a positive impact over you? Why?
Colin Greenwood: As far as I know Scheduler FE is the only software that acts as a front end for Oracle's scheduling modules except of course Enterprise Manager which is a totally diferent type of software.
FW Editor: How can you describe Scheduler FE in one single word? Why?
Colin Greenwood: Innovative
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about the most important features available in Scheduler FE?
Colin Greenwood: Scheduler FE can be stup through its parameter file, SchedFileData.csv, to restrict functionality thereby allowing other members of the organization to utilise Oracle's scheduling that are specific to their needs. Of course the Scheduler Manager has to approve the request but it allows the delegation of functions.
