FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Dario Volaric: My plans in the near future is to re-create most of my applications in the Microsoft .NET framework and perhaps even create new software for the Windows Mobile platform. Most of the software will remain freeware and I hope to introduce some shareware as well.
FW Editor: What was the first application you created?
Dario Volaric: My first (personal) application that I created was a password security system for MSDOS (made in batch script) that looked like a computer terminal. The security tool had animations of an id card being inserted and asking for a password. One could also change the password and there were animations for correct and incorrect code. When you enter the correct code, the system then continues to boot into MSDOS or Windows 95. This first public application I created was Cyber-D's Wallpaper Shifter 2. This program selects a random wallpaper from a folder you selected, stretches is proportionally and applies it to your desktop. Later versions introduced random system-startup sounds, but I removed this in even later version as the program was starting to have too many things that are not related to wallpaper management.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for 'Cyber-D autodelete'? What inspired you the most?
Dario Volaric: I got the idea to write Cyber-D's autodelete years ago (2005) when I wanted to monitor my home using my webcam. I wanted an application that can save images from my webcam every 5 seconds or so and have a history of images up to one week. However, all applications I found back then only saved the images but did not delete old images, thus my disk was slowly filling up with files. Since I could not find a tool that can delete old files for me, I decided to make one myself.
FW Editor: Which are the most important features of 'Cyber-D autodelete'?
Dario Volaric: The most important feature of Cyber-D's autodelete is the ability to delete only the files that are older than a specified time and leave the rest. Other options include searching for files in subfolders, secure deletion of files, filters (include or exclude folders or files), deletion logs, send files to trash or not, delete empty subfolders, move files to a folder instead of delete.
FW Editor: Which one is your favorite?
Dario Volaric: My favorite feature is the inclusion of the subfolders.
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about this feature? Why it is so important? Is 'Cyber-D autodelete' the same without it?
Dario Volaric: Inclusion of subfolders also scans for old files within the folder you specified. This is important because otherwise it will only scan and delete files inside your specified folder and leave any subfolders alone. However, if you have a downloads folder, and inside that folder you have more folders of for example extracted zip archives, you would want those folders to be removed after a while as well.
FW Editor: What are the advantages of using 'Cyber-D autodelete' over any other similar product?
Dario Volaric: The advantages of using Cyber-D's autodelete is that it can keep specified folders clean of old files that you no longer use. This can be used to keep your downloads folder clean, to remove old webcam image files, old backups and archives, etc.
FW Editor: Is there any message or any advice you would like to send to 'Cyber-D autodelete' users?
Dario Volaric: Cyber-D's autodelete will only automatically clean your specified folders on system startup, or when you manually run the application. To have it clean every hour or so, I would advise to use the Task Scheduler that is built into Windows. Just google for a tutorial on how to use the Task Scheduler, as the use of it is different for various versions of Windows.
