FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives for the near future?
: I want to improve FidoCadJ: my objective is to provide a software which is faster, better integrated in the host operating system and easier to use.

FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for FidoCadJ? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
: I started working to FidoCadJ at the beginning of 2007, since I needed something to view and modify drawings in the FidoCad format and the original software was not available for the operating system I use. So, certainly FidoCad for Windows inspired me a lot, even if FidoCadJ departed a little from the original philosophy. Actually, my work is to improve FidoCadJ and its documentation and I do not plan to start another big project in the future (but who knows...). Anyway, FidoCadJ actually runs in the server of some electronic forums (such as www.electroportal.net) so that users can post a schematics in their posts: FidoCadJ allows automatically anyone to see the resulting image. I think the integration with systems such as phpBB is extremely interesting.

FW Editor: What do you love the most at FidoCadJ? Why?
: I like the ease of use of the software and the ability of obtaining electrical schematics which are good also from a typographic point of view. I often use FidoCadJ along with LaTeX for some technical documents I write. Anyway, the strength of FidoCadJ is the strength of the original FidoCad software: you can represent technical schematics in a very compact text code which can be copy/pasted in forum posts, usenet messages and so on. And, of course, FidoCadJ is distributed under GPL v. 3, so it is completely free and you can have the source files too!

FW Editor: Do you plan to improve FidoCadJ? If yes, how are you intending to do that?
: Probably, the user interface needs to be fine-tuned. Some parts of the software can be improved and can be made faster and easier to use. I am always eager to hear feedbacks from users. If someone has something to propose or a suggestion about an improvement, I will be very happy to be contacted.

FW Editor: Are you accepting user's feedback to further improve FidoCadJ? Let's say I'm a common user. How can I send my feedback to you?
: You have basically two ways to do that: the first (preferred) is to participate to forums on SourceForge. The advantage is that everything is kept public and other users can interact. Here is the address (you should inscribe yourself to SourceForge to write a post): https://sourceforge.net/projects/fidocadj/forums/forum/997486 You may write in English, French or in Italian, since those are the languages I speak. The second possibility is to write me an email. You can easily find my email address in the webpages of the FidoCadJ project on my site (remember to remove the antispam part).

FW Editor: How can you describe FidoCadJin in one single word? Why?
: Probably it is "EDA", which stands for Electronic Design Automation (ok, I cheated). But I should add that FidoCadJ is probably described as an "EDA for hobbyists".

FW Editor: So far FidoCadJ offers multi-language support for English, French and Italian. Do you plan to add more languages in the future?
: Yes, but those are the languages I speak and I can understand. For other languages, I need a help from the users community: if you want to translate FidoCadJ and/or its manual in your language, please contact me. From a technical point of view, you just need a simple text editor. Your work can significantly help FidoCadJ spread in your country!
