FW Editor: What determined you to make such a program and how did you come up with the idea for it?
Noelle Pozzi: We believe that this program have triggered for a new branch of converters for making high quality anaglyph images and videos. There is a high demand for these tools on the market which has boosted in 2010 offering more and more consumer electronics to playback 3D movies and images.
FW Editor: You only develop free software? How do you make your money if you keep giving away very nice software away for free?
Noelle Pozzi: At the moment our software is free. We get rewards from installing DVDVideoSoft Toolbar, which is optional. Later on we are planning to release Free Studio Pro which will be paid. However, our devoted users and subscribers will receive a free activation code for this release.
FW Editor: Nowadays there are a lot of 3D glasses on the market. Which are the best for this program?
Noelle Pozzi: 3D Photo Maker supports red-cyan and yellow-blue anaglyph glasses. Both types will be appropriate for this program.
FW Editor: When using the program, we could select the algorithm after the program merged the photos making a 3d one. Can you tell us the differences between those algorithms?
Noelle Pozzi: The difference between the algorithms is the following:
Color (red-cyan) anaglyph algorithm is a standard one, designed specially for regular red-blue anaglyph glasses.
True (dark) anaglyph algorithm will make your output image darker than the original.
Gray anaglyph algorithm will make the output image more gray-painted. In this case the brightness is more even, however, no color reproduction is shown.
When you choose the optimized anaglyph algorithm, then the color balance of the output image is preserved (in contrast to gray and true anaglyph). Complex calculations bring a better color reproduction (in contrast to color anaglyph).
ColorCode (yellow-blue) anaglyph algorithm is intended for yellow-blue anaglyph glasses. Another component separation combination produces a better color rendering than red-cyan anaglyph without additional optimization on most materials as well as gives more even brightness.
When using the program for the first time, we recommend to use all kinds of algorithms to learn the difference.
FW Editor: Do we need a special camera to make the initial photos? Do you recommend any settings for the camera, such as resolution, distance, etc?
Noelle Pozzi: No special cameras are needed. You just need to shoot two photos of the same object. These photos should be shot with a small distance (2-3 inches).
FW Editor: If all your programs are like this Free 3D Photo Maker, which is a very nice program, please tell us more about your work, your current work, and what surprises are you planning to release in the near future.
Noelle Pozzi: In the near future we will surprise our devoted users with lots of interesting updates. We are finishing the development of a new video downloader which will be able to download from different video hosting websites (not only from YouTube). Moreover, we have plans to release Free 3D Video Maker and make it possible to make 3D photos and videos just from one source file.
