FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Brian: To build a closer relationship with our users. We'd like to integrate more and more interesting new features into the player that are not available in other applications. User feedback is extremely valuable and important to us at this stage.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for Go PlayAlong? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Brian: The development of Go PlayAlong was started about five years ago as a hobby project. It's first version was released on the guitar teaching site of Justin Sandercoe ( Katie Melua band, etc. ). The positive feedbacks motivated us to put more efforts into our software. Currently we are focusing 100% on the upcoming improvements to Go PlayAlong.
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about mp3->tab synchronization feature? How does it work?
Brian: Mp3 - TAB synchronization is a short process that takes about 2-10 minutes and requires some basic musical and rhythmical ability. As result you'll get a perfectly live experience during practicing and the TAB highlight will precisely follow the playback position of the original mp3 track. During synchronization you to locate several matching link points in the tab and mp3. And most importantly, this short task will help you to better understand the rhythm and structure of the music before you learn how to play it.
FW Editor: What new features should we expect in Go PlayAlong in the future? Do you plan to improve Go PlayAlong in any way?
Brian: Yes! Our main goal is to add as many user requested features as possible. The upcoming update will contain an improved library with the ability to load external sf2 SoundFonts for example.
FW Editor: Why is Go PlayAlong better than other similar applications? What makes it so special? What is its biggest advantage?
Brian: With Go PlayAlong you can simply concentrate on practicing. No annoying midi sounds, no hard to read scores, no strange position highlight movement, only practicing.
FW Editor: Go PlayAlong is a great software and I really love it. Still, there are many people who prefer to use other similar products. What can you tell to convince them that Go PlayAlong is better?
Brian: Quite simple: Try it!
FW Editor: How can you describe Go PlayAlong in just a few words? Why?
Brian: It's like the PDF reader of guitar tabs of many different formats ( ptb, gp5, gp4, gp3, gtp ). It covers the most widely spread file formats on popular tab sites. and this list will expand in the future.
FW Editor: Do you offer a full customer support service for Go PlayAlong users? If not, do you plan to create something like that?
Brian: Yes, check out the 'contact us' link at our website. Product feedback and feature requests are welcome too!
FW Editor: At this moment, there are quite a few tab players on the market and the competition is strong. However, Go PlayAlong is becoming more and more successful. What is the secret?
Brian: Special features that cannot be found in other tab players & comfortable user interface.
FW Editor: To end with, is there any message you would like to send to Go PlayAlong users?
Brian: Enjoy practicing!
