FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Rod Schmidt: My main object is to grow infiniteNIL enough so I can concentrate full time on selling my own software and not have to rely on contracting for the majority of my income
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for PackRat? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Rod Schmidt: I started Packrat in 2004 and was inspired because I wanted to use Backpack when I was in a coffee shop but then didn't have internet access. I plan to development new software as well as enhance our existing products.
FW Editor: Do you plan to improve or change PackRat in any way? If yes, how are you going to do that?
Rod Schmidt: I'm currently working on Packrat 2, although it may not seem like it. iOS apps and contracting provide most of my income. When I have time I plan to finish up Packrat 2 and finish it. The UI is much better and that is the main focus of the update.
FW Editor: What are the advantages of using PackRat and why is this application so important?
Rod Schmidt: You don't need an internet connection to use it and it provides a better and richer UI and takes advantage of the features Mac OS X offers such as AppleScript
FW Editor: How can you describe PackRat in one single word? Why?
Rod Schmidt: Handy. It comes in handy when you don't have an internet connection and you need to use Backpack.
FW Editor: What is your favorite PackRat feature and why?
Rod Schmidt: The syncing because even when you don't have an internet connection you have your Backpack data.
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about this feature? Why it is so important? Is PackRat the same without it?
Rod Schmidt: I think I've said enough. Syncing is the whole reason for Packrat.
FW Editor: Do you have any message or anything to share with PackRat users?
Rod Schmidt: Thanks you very much for your patronage. Please be patient. I know its been awhile, but Packrat 2 will be released.
