FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
EngSaS - Engineering Solutions and Services Langenbach: To establish Meganizer as a well known media organizer. The critical point is to reach all those people, who like to have such a software, but do not know about existing solutions. Meganizer is our first big software project for which we develop considerable flexible and powerful information management techniques. The gained experience let us move towards our main activity: Supporting engineers during all development stages.

FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for Meganizer? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
EngSaS - Engineering Solutions and Services Langenbach: I've started Meganizer in march this year. The starting point was the big book collection in our family. We were tired buying books multiple times or making one of us a gift the other already had. Now we also have an overview about the books ready to be read by us. The improvement and maintenance of meganizer is one important task, but we also plan to enhance the functionality of the techniques used in Meganizer. Futhermore we will adapt these techniques to other products.

FW Editor: Meganizer is one of the best media management software from the market. What is the secret?
EngSaS - Engineering Solutions and Services Langenbach: Meganizer is easy to understand and good useability is more important than the design. It must be easy enough for people who are not very familiar with computers in general. Another point is, Meganizer will hopefully become more than an organizer. It is thaught as an information center for media of different types. To realize it, is our main goal concerning Meganizer.

FW Editor: Meganizer is available only in German. Do you plan to add more languages? (at least an English version).
EngSaS - Engineering Solutions and Services Langenbach: Yes, the english version is already present, but a bug prevents Meganizer from starting in english on not german systems. This will be fixed until november this year. By the way we're happy if anyone want's to contribute translations to Meganizer. Please contact us via meganizer@engsas.de for any help.

FW Editor: Meganizer has quite a strong competition but, so far, it succeeded in making a name for itself. What do you think about the huge success of Meganizer?
EngSaS - Engineering Solutions and Services Langenbach: Firstly we're quite happy, that other people find the software quite useful. I think, the key is that it is free and platform independent. Also we organize the underlaying data in the style of product data management software. Therefore it is quite easy to find media, but the real challenge is useability, which was and is one of our main goals.

FW Editor: Why would you recommend Meganizer over any other similar product?
EngSaS - Engineering Solutions and Services Langenbach: Meganizer offers more than only storing data about media collections. It tries to support the user over the whole lifecycle of media, starting from looking for new media over reading and sharing them with family members. One big advantage of Meganizer is that it supports Microsoft Windows platforms, which is used by most people today, but follows the thought of free software also.

FW Editor: Is there any limit on how many movies or images can be stored and managed with Meganizer?
EngSaS - Engineering Solutions and Services Langenbach: The theoretical limit is the size of the database used by Meganizer. But these are Terabytes and the metadata collection of thousands of books or cd's normaly consumes about 50MB. But with large collections the user shouldn't run a search without filtering out most of them, because the graphical interfaces response will slow down. But we're working on this issue.

FW Editor: How can you describe Meganizer one single word? Why?
EngSaS - Engineering Solutions and Services Langenbach: Different Like mentioned above, Meganizer follows another philosophy than the other solutions. The users whish to consume high quality media is the basis for Meganizer.
