FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives for the near future?
Karlheinz Agsteiner: Write a more graphically appealing, better balanced mobile version of Web Raid for Android devices. It will feature actual leveling up, have dungeon levels that get more tough the lower you get, and no turn-based play.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for Web Raid ? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new games, or are you more focused on optimizing the current one?
Karlheinz Agsteiner: I suddenly had the idea that you might generate monsters and levels from words and sentences, and I just needed to implement it.
FW Editor: From your point of view, which is the strongest Web Raid feature? Why?
Karlheinz Agsteiner: Monsters and weapons generated from words. There are fierce red dragons out there, but I haven't yet met them (and claimed victory over them :-) ).
Oh and I'm proud of the monster personality system; not just peaceful vs. aggressive, but a mix of 5 personality types.
FW Editor: What new features should we expect in Web Raid in the future? How do you plan to improve it?
Karlheinz Agsteiner: Some of the features of Web Raid Mobile might make it into Web Raid
FW Editor: Web Raid is a great game and personally I love it. However, there are still many people who prefer to play similar games, like for example, NetHack's. What can you tell to convince them that Web Raid is better?
Karlheinz Agsteiner: Nothing, seriously. Nethack is the one great "roguelike game", and Web Raid can't match its thousands of cool ideas.
But of course it only has, I don't know, 500 monsters, while Web Raid has over 100.000. :-)
FW Editor: How can you describe Web Raid in one single word? Why?
Karlheinz Agsteiner: RPGFox, because it's pretty much like a web browser meets RPG
FW Editor: How came you up with this truly unique idea of using the words from the internet web pages as the main engine that generates the gameplay?
Karlheinz Agsteiner: It was there, suddenly. And I knew I needed to implement it.
FW Editor: As a closure, is there any message you would like to send to the Web Raid fans?
Karlheinz Agsteiner: Thanks for downloading it and enjoying the game. :-)
