FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Sandu Rajapakse (lankanmon): We are currently in the process of developing an application similar to Essential Software Installer. It will be called Your Software Installer and will allow the user to customize the software list in the application. The user will be able to save their own application (names, url's etc.) and multiple other functions. We hope to setup a server and eventually allow synchronization to allow users to keep their selections on multiple computers. There are many things that we plan to make in the near future. Please visit lankanmon.com to see any updates and how you can get involved.
FW Editor: What inspired you the most in creating Essential Software Installer?
Sandu Rajapakse (lankanmon): Essential Software installer started off as a private application, to be used privately, but as it became more and more developed, I decided to release it to the world, not in the hope of getting money or making it famous, simply to help out other users with the same issues that I have.
FW Editor: Do you plan to improve Essential Software Installer or are you focused on developing new software?
Sandu Rajapakse (lankanmon): Along with making new software, we plan to support all our current software and give software updates when ever needed or possible to do so. Especially with ESI, it is still in its Beta Stages and requires much more under the hood before a final stable version is released.
FW Editor: If you are going to improve it, what new features do you plan to add with the next updates?
Sandu Rajapakse (lankanmon): We have some great ideas in store for the ESI. In future versions, we plan to have an auto downloader and installer (which will make the process even simpler). We are also going to increase the support for the software in our forum (http://lankanmon.com/helpdesk). There will also we many more applications available and many more bug fixes.
FW Editor: How often do you update your program with new the software?
Sandu Rajapakse (lankanmon): We try our best to update the application at least every two (2) weeks, but we always release any bug fixes immediately as soon as it has been fixed. (You can help out by reporting any issues experienced)
FW Editor: How can you characterize Essential Software Installer in a single word? Why?
Sandu Rajapakse (lankanmon): Helpful. I think this word describes the application the most (at least in my opinion), because it really did make the daunting task simpler for me.
FW Editor: Is there anything you would like to change in Essential Software Installer? Why?
Sandu Rajapakse (lankanmon): As you may have read from our company's profile, I am not an expert in Java Application programming; I also learn new things every day. As I learn a new thing, or a better way to do something, i will definitely make the application better. As I have said in other interviews, if there is anyone who is more experienced in Java programming, that would like to assist me, please contact me! (admin@lankanmon.com)
FW Editor: Now, to end our small interview, is there any message you would like to send to Essential Software Installer users?
Sandu Rajapakse (lankanmon): I would like to thank all the current and future users of ESI. Making applications work more fluently in more operating systems is difficult without the help of all of the beta testers! I would like to ask all of you to let me know what you think in the forum (http://lankanmon.com/helpdesk) or in the Feedback Section at the end of the ESI page (http://lankanmon.com/Essential Software Installer). Thank you and I hope you Enjoy ESI!
