FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Martijn van der Kooij: My main focus is currently Picto Selector which consumes most of my spare time.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for 'Picto selector'? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Martijn van der Kooij: I was inspired in september 2009 by looking at my wife and seeing how much effort it took to visualize a schedule for taking a shower. She wanted to create a visual schedule so our son would know which steps he needs to take.
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about the concept behind 'Picto selector'?
Martijn van der Kooij: Make it easy to find the symbols (picto in Picto Selector) to use in a schedule and combine them with drag and drop into a schedule.
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about the most important features from 'Picto selector'?
Martijn van der Kooij: Lots of symbols, in the last year it growed from 5000 to the current 14000. Text and photo picto's which are fully customizable. Overlays to show good or wrong for a symbols.
FW Editor: How can you characterize 'Picto selector' in just a few words?
Martijn van der Kooij: Free, easy, drag and drop, visual schedules, lot's of symbols
FW Editor: Do you plan to improve or change 'Picto selector' in any way? If yes, how are you going to do that?
Martijn van der Kooij: I'm currently extending the text picto functionality to make each of them a kind of Wordpad with colors, different sizes etc.
I'm also adding new laguages when people offer their help to translate it to their own language. It is great to cooperate with people from the whole world.
FW Editor: Besides 'Picto selector', is there any application that had a positive impact over you? Why?
Martijn van der Kooij: I did not look at other simular products, so no one can claim that I copied their ideas. I just asked my wife and other user what they need.
