FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Miklos Keresztes: I hope I will have enough time to extend AndiCar from a standalone car management application to a professional fleet management solution.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for AndyCar? What inspired you the most?
Miklos Keresztes: After I tested and evaluated several free car management applications available in the Android Market I decided to develop my own. I began the development of AndiCar in February 2010 as a personal project, because I needed a mileage tracking application for my new Android phone.
The first appearance on Android Market was in March, 2010.
FW Editor: Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Miklos Keresztes: No. For the moment I do not pan to develop new software. In the future I will focus on improving AndiCar.
FW Editor: Do you have any plans to improve AndyCar in the near future? If yes, how are you going to do that?
Miklos Keresztes: Yes. I want to improve AndiCar in two main directions: first I want to extend the functionality of AndiCar by adding new features like service reminders, automatic data backups, etc. In the second stage I want to extend it to become a professional fleet management solution with a central, web based, server application.
FW Editor: What is your favorite feature from AndyCar?
Miklos Keresztes: The mileage tracking with the possibility to differentiate between business, personal or other types of mileages. This functionality was the main reason for which I started to develop AndiCar.
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about this feature? Why it is so important? Is AndyCar the same without it?
Miklos Keresztes: Everybody who use a car for personal and business travels needs a tool to track and differentiate the mileages and expenses. This is the main concept behind AndiCar.
FW Editor: What are the advantages of using AndyCar over any other car management software?
Miklos Keresztes: AndiCar has a lot of unique features over other car management applications. For example GPS tracking and the possibility to record mileages using the GPS sensor, all reports can be generated in csv or html format and can be sent as email attachment, vendor/partner management, mileage, refuel, expense tracking, multiple car and driver support, multiple currencies and exchange rates, multiple expense types/categories. And it is open source!
FW Editor: Now, to end our small interview, is there any message you would like to send to AndyCar users?
Miklos Keresztes: Thanks for your feedback, bug reports and enhancement ideas.
