FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Roland Weigert: There is a bunch of features, that I plan to add.
-Musicbrainz-support for tag-guesser
-Discogs-support for tag-guesser
-Database integration for the whole app
-Matchcopy for two directories (for syncing my Laptop with desktops new files)
-Id3lib support
-Ogg-support in ripper.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for K-Yamo? What inspired you the most?
Roland Weigert: I was in technichian-school and learned some stuff about databases. At the beginning I sarted as proof of pocept, that I can handle databases and QT3.
It somehow evolved into bigger dimensions. Mostly I write the program I want to use myself.
FW Editor: K-Yamo has quite a strong competition. What makes K-Yamo better than similar applications?
Roland Weigert: It has everything in one programm, that is needed to handle musicdiscs and files.
The interface is easy to use, and allows massive file-tagging.
FW Editor: What is your favorite K-Yamo feature and why?
Roland Weigert: The cleanup-function:
If I decide, that my whole music gets reoganised, I write a cleanupfilter, and tell kyamo I want to clean up. All double files will get erased.
FW Editor: How many files types K-Yamo can read beside the *.mp3? Are you planning to add more file extensions to the list?
Roland Weigert: Only ogg-vorbis reading.
I do not really have the time, to include more filetypes.
FW Editor: Do you plan to improve or change or improve K-Yamo in any way? If yes, how are you going to do that?
Roland Weigert: The interface will stay mostly as it is now.
Only adding of some tabs is planned:
-Matchcopy
-Databasemanager (For the local stored music)
Other changes will be improvements under the hood, to get things working better, as my coding gets better.
FW Editor: How can you characterize K-Yamo in a single word? Why?
Roland Weigert: Fast:
Try to do the same with any other application, in the same speed.
FW Editor: Is there any message you would like to send to K-Yamo users?
Roland Weigert: Thanks for using my little programm.
I am really sorry, that I do not have enough time, to develop faster, but you can be ensured: KYamo is not dead!
