FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: We can't tell about our future projects due to the corporate policy, but we are working hard to deliver the best solutions to our users and customers.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for SPB Keyboard? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: It is a long story. We wanted to create the finger-oriented keyboard. Everyone used styluses at that time. Nobody believed that it's possible to write messages fast and easy without styluses. So we aimed to create the full-screen keyboard which was very convenient for typing long messages with fingers. We called it Spb Fullscreen Keyboard. It was in 2002. The new version of SPB's keyboard now offers three modes of on-screen text input, and has received a new name to portray the change — SPB Keyboard.
FW Editor: What do you love the most at SPB Keyboard? Which is its most
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: Full screen keyboard remains the best feature. It allows to type long texts, and prevents mistypes.
Moreover, it supports a lot of languages
FW Editor: Is there anything you would like to change in SPB Keyboard? There are some extra features that you may like to have? Is there anything that is not working as intended and you are planning to remove it?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: We can't discuss this questions also. It's our company's policy.
FW Editor: SPB Keyboard has quite a strong competition but, so far, it succeeded in making a name for itself. What do you think about the huge success of SPB Keyboard?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: We think that the success of SPB Keyboard is based on its uniqueness: the majority of keyboards don't have the full screen mode, though it's really indespencible for those who use their devices to type long e-mails, messages and notes.
FW Editor: I know that developing such a product requires a lot of hard work and time. It was hard to create SPB Keyboard?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: Sure. It takes much time and efforts to create a high-quality and fast input method. It's a challenging developer's task.
FW Editor: What are the advantages of using SPB Keyboard?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: Convenience, fast input, great interface with big finger-friendly buttons, 35 language layouts
FW Editor: Is there any customer support service for SPB Keyboard users? If no, do you plan to create something like this in the future?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: Yes, we have it on our site: http://spb.com/pocketpc-software/keyboard/support.html
FW Editor: How would you describe SPB Keyboard? Why?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: An on-screen keyboard, which works great with the stylus, but is optimized for typing text with one's bare hands.
FW Editor: Now, to end our small interview, is there any message you would like to send to SPB Keyboard users?
Vassili Philippov, COO of SPB Software: Send the messages!
