FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Thomas Welzhofer: Storage Room is not a finished project, so we plan to enhance Storage Room with additional tools and features to become an even better application.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for Storage Room? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Thomas Welzhofer: We started writing the Storage Room code early 2008 and invested more as four man years. The plan was to finally create a tool that fulfils even the highest security needs. Where are many great concept how to enhance Storage Room and we will focus to extend Storage Room in future.
FW Editor: Storage Room is one of the best (if not even the best) data protection software from the market. What is the secret?
Thomas Welzhofer: The secret of Storage Room is the strong focus on privacy, security and visual appearance.
FW Editor: Why have you selected the AES 256 encryption system?
Thomas Welzhofer: Storage Room is actually using more than 400 different algorithms on top of the 256 AES encryption. The AES 256 encryption system was chosen as the basic encryption system, because it is commonly accepted as on of the safest encryption method and use by the US government for confidential files.
FW Editor: Unlike other similar applications Storage Room can protect important files even if a computer is already infected with a spyware. How is that possible?
Thomas Welzhofer: This is the main focus of Storage Room which uses a worldwide unique class in order to edit, display and store values encrypted in memory.
This security class:
1) is able to visual render and edit the stored value without ever decrypting the full value in memory
2) is randomly using multiple of 1000 different encrypting methods for each single character stored, so if a value contains 10 characters it may need up to 100 different methods to decrypt the complete value stored
3) is using an encrypting algorithms what can't be used to reverse the encryption
4) has a decryption algorithm which will break, if anything in the application or its environment was changed, so it will never be possible to transfer and decrypt a memory snapshot on another machine
Storage Room is beyond that not only obfuscated in order to protect the source code from being reverse engineered but also executes a huge part of the application in a virtual machine. Without the source code, it is impossible to decrypt any value even if the password would be known. To ensure no one will ever be able to write a peace of code what brute forces a Storage Room database using the GPU (Graphic Processor Unit) it is planed, to change the detail encryption regularly, but at least once a year.
FW Editor: What are the advantages of using Storage Room over any other similar product?
Thomas Welzhofer: The advantage of Storage Room is the secure deposit of any confidential information or password and the comfort of automated keyboard input

Thomas Welzhofer: Due to the innovations Storage Room comes with, the first use may, compared to conventional applications, feel unfamiliar, but everyone who will take the little time to get used to the innovative new handling, will be able to boost his comfort and security on his workstation.
