FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives for the near future?
Tuomas Vesterinen: Most urgently Tinybooker needs more translations and localized scheme templates. Please contact me if you can help.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for Tinybooker? What inspired you the most?
Tuomas Vesterinen: I had an unpublished version of accounting program written in Pascal. Based on it I started the public project in 2006. I wanted to show what is handy and easy according of my experience.
FW Editor: When do you plan to develop a Tinybooker version for Windows users, or any other platform, for that matter?
Tuomas Vesterinen: I don't want to port to Windows twice for Python 2.x and 3.x. So I am waiting for Python 3 to be mature enough to port Tinybooker first to Python 3 series and after that to Windows.
FW Editor: What new features should we expect in Tinybooker in the future? How do you plan to improve it?
Tuomas Vesterinen: A complete accounting program contains many optional parts like cost pools, invoicing, accounts payable subsidiary ledger, accounts receivable ledger etc. I am willing to implement new features but as long as I am alone with Tinybooker you can't wait any quick results.
FW Editor: Tinybooker is a great application and personally I love it. However, there are still many people who prefer to use similar software. What can you tell to convince them that Tinybooker is better?
Tuomas Vesterinen: If the core functionality is enough for you just give Tinybooker a try. See the demo. Tinybooker helps you in every task as long as it is possible. Compare it to what other programs can do.
FW Editor: How can you describe Tinybooker in one single word? Why?
Tuomas Vesterinen: The starting point of the dual accounting. You don't need to be a professional accountant.
FW Editor: In what programming language have you developed Tinybooker? How long did take to make the decision?
Tuomas Vesterinen: When I first time got acquainted with Python the decision was quick and easy. Python is an excellent tool to prototype the business logic.
FW Editor: To end with, is there any message you would like to send to the Tinybooker users?
Tuomas Vesterinen: Don't worry, be happy.
