FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
WallpapersWide.com: To further improve both DesktopSlides and WallpaperWide.com
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for DesktopSlides? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
WallpapersWide.com: We started writing the code for DesktopSlides in November 2009 inspired mostly by our own need for a desktop wallpaper changer, we couldn't find one to be both freeware, run well on any windows version and have a fresh look and feel for the user interface and because other freeware built for this purpose that was available at that time was either too bulky for this simple task or was missing some of these requirements, like a simple and clean GUI not a win '95 resembling one or strict resolution matching as opposed to just stretching or resampling the image to fit the screen or a high quality wallpapers database for the online feed feature, sure Flickr and Picasa are ok for a image feed source but most images found there don't have matching ratios and are not exactly what we would like to see on our desktops, and so on ... thus we figured that we may not be the only ones looking for a software to fit this description and since we were already running a wallpapers site to match the ideal database for the live wallpapers feature we developed DesktopSlides.
Right now we are focusing on optimizing the current ones both DesktopSlides and WallpaperWide.com, we don't plan to develop new software anytime soon at least not until we run out of new features or optimization ideas for the current ones.
FW Editor: How often are you updating your wallpapers database?
WallpapersWide.com: Every time we find or receive an wallpaper matching our quality criteria for publishing.
FW Editor: It is possible to select a limited number of wallpapers and run them one after another (for example 10 wallpapers to run one after another)?
WallpapersWide.com: Not in the current version but since it sounds like an useful feature it will be present in the next major release.
FW Editor: What makes DesktopSlides so special? Why it is better than any other similar product?
WallpapersWide.com: It's light, cross compatible, native 64-bit for today's 64bit systems and simple - you can customize your desktop with a few clicks setup and the live feature, no need to be a pc guru or even to know your display's native resolution to get matching wallpapers, DesktopSlides takes care of this automatically upon setup.
FW Editor: Anyone can submit new wallpapers? How do you filter the good quality ones from bad quality wallpapers?
WallpapersWide.com: To maintain the quality of our content only a subset of submissions are published, generally low resolution wallpapers ( resolutions below Full HD ) don't get published except maybe a few really impressive artworks.
FW Editor: How can you describe DesktopSlides in one single word? Why?
WallpapersWide.com: Useful. It is useful if you customize your desktop often to add some color to a otherwise boring desktop but don't want to spend much time doing this and turn customization into routine as well.
FW Editor: What is your favorite DesktopSlides feature and why?
WallpapersWide.com: The live wallpapers feature. It's customization with a single click.
FW Editor: Do you have any message for DesktopSlides users?
WallpapersWide.com: Suggestions for improvements and new features are always welcomed.
