FW Editor: What are your plans or objectives in the near future?
Chang Zhou: Our near future plan which we are working on now is to have the same smart rendering support for exporting in the H.264/AVCHD video file formats.
FW Editor: How and when did you start writing the code for Womble EasySub? What inspired you the most? Do you plan to develop new software, or are you more focused on optimizing the current ones?
Chang Zhou: We had the initial idea for EasySub in the beginning of 2009, and some initial design started in the Spring of 2009, along with a search on the internet for all DVD subtitle editor software products. The real work started immediately after the releases of EasyDVD and MPEG Video Wizard DVD 5.0 at the end of 2009. One of the main incentives for EasySub is the opportunity to be the first to offer a full fledged DVD subtitle editor, in addition to complete our offer of DVD video tool set. In terms of future development, we will be trying to do both.
FW Editor: Womble EasySub is one of the best subtitle editing tools from the market. What is the secret?
Chang Zhou: I think we have gained a very good understanding about the best user interface design for a software tool since the release of MPEG Video Wizard in 2003. The two guidelines for a good design, i.e., a user should be able to figure out the next step and to know what's going on (as summarized in the book "Design of Everyday Things"), was first put into practice for our development of EasyDVD, and it has prepared us for the development of EasySub.
FW Editor: Can you tell us more about the most important features and tools available in Womble EasySub?
Chang Zhou: I'll simply copy the statement from the product page: "... With an embedded video player, you can preview subtitle text with all the details in real time. The sound waveform display gives you a visual help to locate a voice segment quickly and to set the exact time for your text. You can also import subtitle from existing .srt subtitle file into subtitle list, then manipulate it freely, for example to shift time or to change language. Especially, this editor can help write subtitle to DVD video, then you can play the video with subtitle overlaid with a program or with a device directly."
FW Editor: Womble EasySub has quite a strong competition but, so far, it succeeded in making a name for itself. On top of that, Womble EasySub is quite cheap (if we compare it with other similar products). How can you offer such a great product at such an attractive price?
Chang Zhou: The price was set mainly based on our balance between engineering effort and marketing effort.
FW Editor: What are the advantages of using Womble EasySub over any other similar product?
Chang Zhou: Womble EaysSub is a very intuitive, very flexible and yet very powerful tool that make the seemly tedious DVD subtitling work enjoyable.
FW Editor: Is there any customer support service for Womble EasySub users? Are you accepting user's feedback (with ideas for new features, possible bug reports, etc)?
Chang Zhou: Yes, we provide email support for all Womble EasySub users. And yes, we are not only accepting, but encouraging user's feedback for bug reports as well as new feature suggestions.
FW Editor: How can you describe Womble EasySub in just a few words?
Chang Zhou: EaysSub is a tool that makes DVD subtitling an enjoyable work.
FW Editor: Now, to end our small interview, is there any message you would like to send to Womble EasySub users?
Chang Zhou: There is no better way to find it out than taking a 30 day free trial at

FW Editor: Thank you for your interview. We are looking forward to see more amazing products from Womble Multimedia Inc.
